Since the first slam door service in 1964, the BR Class 421 ‘4 CIG‘ has served passengers well over the years. Built at BR's Holgate Road carriage works between 1964 & 1972. There were 166 (138 class 421 (4 CIG) and 28 class 422 (4 BIG) Units) You will experience highly populated scenarios bringing a rich recreation of the time back then.
As your drive Britain's most famous slam door units, the BR 421 EMU, which is more commonly called the Slam Door, The name came about because of the characteristic noise made by the passengers slamming the doors closed when the train was about to depart. Some slam-door train designs featured doors that could only be opened from the outside, so passengers had to lean out of the window to reach the outside door handle.
The Network SouthEast Scenario Pack features ten rich AI packed scenarios, The scenarios bring true to life recreation of the UK Rail Network between 1980-1994. Another train featured in this pack is the BR Class 465/466 EMU. All Built by British Rail Engineering Limited, Metro-Cammell & ABB. It is part of the Networker family of units.
Alternatively if you like the sound of doing a semi-fast service to Bedford you can! The BR Class 319 built by British Rail Engineering Limited, There were 86 units built for which is now Northern and Thameslink. But since the start of Thameslink they have retired there class 319 fleet of trains for much newer fleet of trains. The BR Class 700 EMU.
With the success of the class 313 PEP's, Southern have taken on the Class 313s for there East & West Coastway routes, There were 64 units built for Network SouthEast, But since 44 units have been scrapped. The only place possible to see the PEP's now are with Southern on there East & West Coastway Routes. They were built by British Rail Engineering Limited's Holgate Road carriage works between February 1976 and April 1977.
Each Scenario will bring challenges spanning across trying to run a rail network in the wet and windy rain or a lovely sunny day or a horrible winters day with snow!
