Scenario Pack
Scenario Productions - Making The Network SouthEast Scenario Pack
We chat to the development team about making the upcoming Network SouthEast Scenario Pack.
Next week classic mainline and thrilling stopper services in the amazing class 313 PEP's come to Train Simulator 2021 with the new Network SouthEast Scenario Pack. We have taken on some questions from the public!
What goes into making a scenario pack?
With making a scenario pack I create my scenarios using RealTimeTrains.co.uk. Which gives us a good understanding of which train services are where and at what time so we can recreate that in Train Simulator. Here is a photo for a example:
What do you do before making a scenario?
Well before we make a scenario we check the distance on Google Maps to make sure we are able to recreate that in Train Simulator.
Here is a scenario in The Network SouthEast Scenario Pack. You will start at Rainham and continue on to London Victoria.

What is the expected timescale in making a scenario pack?
We have been working on this scenario pack since the end of November 2020. So we aim to make a scenario pack to around about 3 months but could take longer if any issues are found in testing.
What do testers do when testing the scenarios?
Testers basically check to see if any AI is stuck or not moving if that does occur they will report it back to the development team and they will take action and look into that issue.
Class 159001 & 159011 Meet at Basingstoke while on a Network SouthEast Service To Salisbury.
Why did you choose to make The Network SouthEast Scenario Pack?
We choose to make The Network SouthEast Scenario Pack because we would like our players to experience some nostalgia. And we have got asked to make this scenario pack many times so here it is!
How do you choose which scenarios to make?
Well we basically use google maps and RealTimeTrains to see if a scenario is possible to make. We wanted to include at lest 20 scenarios with this scenario pack but 10 of them got rejected by the testing team.
What are the steps you use to making a scenario?
Well the first step is we launch up Train Simulator go to build make the scenario and name the scenario and place you would like to load into. Then the next step is we open up RealTimeTrains we pick a train we would like to base the scenario on and then we place the train down in our scenario and then look at the service timetable in RealTimeTrains and just copy that in Train Simulator.
The trains you will pass in the scenario is the trains you would pass if you were on the train at that moment in time. Unfortunately we could not get hold of any Network SouthEast timetables so had to base all the trains on the timetable now. So this is actually based on a Chiltern Railways timetable.
What do you do after you have finished creating the scenario?
Then we pass the scenario onto the testing team to test it to see if there is any issues playing the scenario.
Any feedback on how we can make this scenario pack better would be greatly appreciated. If you do have any feedback on the scenario pack you can contact us directly using the Contact button at the top of the page.
The Network SouthEast Scenario Pack is coming to Alan Thomson Sim on 12th February at the normal release date time of 18:00pm UK Time. Keep an eye on @ScenarioProductions on Twitter and Facebook for more screenshots and videos of the new scenario pack.
